She loves doing anything that gets her creative juices flowing -- be it fitness or art. And she's always up for a challenge. As of now, she's excited about her ongoing exhibition at Museum Art Gallery that opened yesterday. She speaks to CS about her love for painting:
Have a art!
I've always been a very creative person. However I took up painting a lot more seriously when I had my daughter and found myself with a great deal of free time. Being held in one place, so to speak, somehow sparked off a more serious creative latent instinct in me, which I've tried to hone ever since.
You're the inspiration
Various things inspire me to paint. Sometimes it's just a simple desire to capture something that is beautiful. Often it's a powerful message, something that words would find hard to express. To me, painting is very therapeutic. I forget myself and the world when I'm working on a canvas. The artist's mood, mind, soul, desires are often reflected in their work.
I admire many artists, both
new-comers and veterans for various aspects of their work. A R Chugtai's style of drawing and sense of delicacy in the treatment of a work, Bikash Bhattacharya's play of shadows, Bose Krishnamachari's sense of colour, fluidity, amongst so many others, are so uplifting.
Better woman!
Painting has made me softer, calmer, more observant and more perceptive. Strangely I find that it has also made me a better person, somehow kinder, gentler, wiser and more caring. Of course art can't really have that dramatic an effect, but it certainly can make one more spiritually inclined. And that spiritual journey can change you in a lot of ways. This is just the start of a long journey.
