18-year-old Banita has appeared in a TV commercial -- 'Doublemint - Ek Ajnabee Haseena Se' which has become quite a sensation on YouTube. Banita Sandhu is an NRI who is from London.

Shoojit Sircar discovered her after viewing the ad, which he had directed. He felt she would be perfect for the role in 'October.' Varun Dhawan and Banita Sandhu might be a perfect pair but there is one thing people might not know about her yet.
It seems 'October' isn't Banita's first film. In fact, some sources say Banita Sandhu was the discovery of noted casting director Mukesh Chhabra who wanted to launch her. We are referring to a film Mukesh was planning to direct (his directorial debut) under Sanjay Leela Bhansali's production banner. Banita Sandhu was supposed to be launched opposite Vinod Khanna's son Sakshi.

News regarding Sanjay Leela Bhansali planning to launch Vinod Khanna's son Sakshi came in January. According to some sources, Mukesh Chhabra had even started workshops for his new film. But things couldn't proceed after that.
It's possible that Banita Sandhu is set to make her debut with Shoojit Sircar's 'October' the makers of the Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Mukesh Chhabra's film need to look for another fresh face. Banita Sandhu kept auditioning for ads during which she was noticed by Shoojit Sircar who decided to cast her in his film.
