Stationed in Chambal until May this year for the Son Chiriya shoot, Bhumi Pednekar returned to the Madhya Pradesh district last week to visit the Abhyudaya Ashram. Inspired by the works of the residential school that provides education and teaches the children employable skills to curb the rampant prostitution in the state, the actor has decided to lend her support to the cause.

A source says, "Bhumi headed to Chambal on Wednesday to spend the day with the kids. Besides interacting with them and showering them with gifts, she also had a word with the administration department of the school about its progress. She is deeply invested in the cause and wants to create awareness about the challenges faced by the young girls of the community." It was during the shoot of the Abhishek Chaubey-directed dacoit drama that she had learnt of the Morena-based school. Established in 1992 to fight the prostitution of girls, the ashram — which is funded by the Ministry of Women and Child Development — provides education to the kids, thus opening up job opportunities for them.
