He always looks forward to visiting India and performing for music lovers here. But apart from music, Armin Van Buuren, who ranks among the world's top DJs (he's No. 4 on DJ Mag's list), has other reasons for making frequent trips to the country. "I love India — the culture, food, traditions and the people. It's so different from what we have in the Netherlands. The overall vibe is just amazing, and has me coming back every time," says the Dutch DJ, who will perform at Sunburn (in Pune, December 28 to 31).
Buuren has visited India at least five times over the past few years. "I love India because I get phenomenal response from every city I perform in," he says, adding that the love of fans draws him here like a bee to honey. "When you guys hear a song you like, you let me know in the best way possible. Audiences across the world can learn from the enthusiasm that Indians have," he explains.
Sharing tips for aspiring DJs in India to gain the kind of recognition he has achieved so far, Buuren says, "Just work your butt off! Seriously, this industry is tough. Talent and luck can only get you so far; the rest is up to you. You have to work hard to get to the top and work even harder to stay there."
