Dabbas dhamaal for Parveen-Preeti

It's been about two-and-a-half months since Parvin Dabbas and Preeti Jhangiani's lives changed. They're now more responsible people, their party-hard days are almost over and yet they have late nights. But they have something to look forward to when they wake up every morning. Well, that's because Dabbas junior is now in their lives. The brand new parents, who are awaiting their second baby, Parvin's directorial debut, talk to CS about what makes parenthood special:

Who: Parvin Dabbas and Preeti Jhangiani
What: Talking about parenthood
Where: At their Yari Road residence

Come on, baby
Preeti: I always wanted a baby, so the question of cold feet never arose. And I was too busy to really feel scared about motherhood. I kept reading parenting books and doing things around the house. But I guess no amount of preparation is ever enough. Now that the baby's here, I learn new lessons everyday. It's a great help to have my in-laws and Parvin's sister around. They've been giving me valuable tips on how to teach the baby to sleep on his own and how to not spoil him.
Parvin: I wanted a baby too, but with my film release around the corner, it felt like we were giving birth to two babies. I've not been able to give the little one as much time as I would want to, but I plan to change that once my film's released.

The good, the bad...
Preeti: The best part of having a baby is the feeling of holding in your hands a life that looks so much like you. But the not-so-good part is the loss of freedom. There's a lot more responsibility, so you're not a free bird anymore.
Parvin: Well, it's great to have a gorgeous baby in the house. The downside is that you have to put in a lot of hard work. I wake up in the middle of the night so I'm usually quite groggy in the mornings. But I must say that it's Preeti who's been doing the bulk of the work. We husbands just pay lip service.

Back to work
Preeti: Parvin and I make it a point to divide work and he does his share of it. While I enjoy being a stay-home mother, I plan to resume work once I can leave the little one with my parents. Having said that, I will always have time for my child. We plan to do fun things together as a family - travelling is one of them.
Parvin: Yes, once the baby is a little older, we'll ensure that he has an active outdoor life too. If Preeti wants to get back to work, I'll support her. And that's not because I'm some evolved man or anything, it's just that I believe in individual freedom. I think we're quite a normal couple that way.
