Doggy's day out

It's a dog's life, we might often complain. But Aruna Nene makes you really wish that you were leading one. Her unusual art exhibition that is running at Jehangir Art Gallery till Dec 20 revolves around man's best friend. CS got Aruna talking about her love for dogs and theunique lessons that she's learnt from them:

Canine canvas
The idea for the series stemmed from my observation of man and his best friend. I used to travel everyday from Kandivali to Churchgate in the crowded locals and couldn't help noticing the frenzied lifestyle of the urbanites around me. Everyone was in a tearing hurry all the time and their common refrain was, 'It's a dog's life.' Ironically, I would see dogs sleeping on the platforms blissfully, unaware of the problems plaguing them. That's when it hit me that a dog's life was actually worth coveting and striving for.

Animal instinct
I feel that dogs have mastered the art of living. They have a very high self esteem, irrespective of how mangled they might look or how starved they might be. Through my It's a Dog's Life series, the proceeds of which will go to the Bombay Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (BSPCA), I want to change the human mindset to these beasts.

Puppy love
I'm a complete dog-lover and the owner of Milo, the cutest Cocker Spaniel in the world. He's taught me innumerable lessons in life like patience and forgiveness. Even if I get angry at him, he loves me just the same!
