Indian People's Theatre Association (IPTA) will pay tribute to the works of veteran actor A.K. Hangal, who started his acting journey with theatre, at a ceremony at the Prithvi Theatre Monday
Hangal, who was involved with IPTA along with other veterans inclduing Balraj Sahni and Kaifi Azmi, passed away here Sunday following a prolonged illness. He was 97. "Tomorrow Aug 27 between 4-5 p.m., ceremony for A.K. Hangal Saheb at Prithvi Theatre, Juhu. All are welcome. Please spread the word. Organised by IPTA," veteran actress Shabana Azmi tweeted.

Hangal's love towards theater started during his childhood days in Peshawar, now in Pakistan. He grew up to be a tailor, but quenched his thirst for acting through theatre.u00a0Post partition, he is said to have moved to Mumbai in 1949 and stepped into the Hindi film industry in 1966-67. His initial films included "Teesri Kasam" and "Shagird".u00a0
