"I first attended the Lakme Fashion Week in Mumbai last October, and ever since, have my heart set on taking these lovely designs to Paris," says Vidya Narine, co-director of Rendez-Vous (sic), a fashion fair that accompanies the Paris Fashion Week every year.
The lady has been shuttling between the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week (WLIFW) and Delhi Fashion Week(DFW) to scout for the best designs for global showcase, and has chosen to partner the latter to hunt for that one lucky designer who will make it to the list.
The results are to be announced tomorrow. What's more, the designer also gets a place on Rendez-Vous' month-old website, Lenewblack.com, where buyers get to scan, view, review and purchase pieces. Japan is already in the Net, with the majority of traders hailing from here.
"Though fashion is at different levels of evolution in different parts of the world, exchanges such as these allow it to prosper at a global level," Vidya asserted. But of course, the organisers agree that online purchasing is only supplementary to the primary process of touch-feel-choose.
