ALADIN and THE LION KING: My brother and I used to watch these Walt Disney classics on VHS tapes almost everyday. I must have watched it at least 1,000 times and we could recite the dialogues by heart.

GREASE: It was such a cool musical about high school students starring John Travolta and Olivia Newton John. I recall watching the film with a bunch of youngsters and we all wanted to be like them! It felt great to be transported into their lives.

SINGIN' IN THE RAIN:
Because of Gene Kelly, who I adored and still do. He is my all-time favourite hero because he could sing, dance, act and looked like a god! I used to call him 'that man with the most unbelievable talent'. The scene in which Gene Kelly sings the title song while twirling with an umbrella, splashing through puddles and getting soaked to the skin is still etched in my memory.

DANCER IN THE DARK: This Danish musical drama film was one of the most intense films I had ever seen. It is about a Czech immigrant who has moved to the US with her son. Due to a disease she is going blind and to escape the misery, she often visits the local cinema to watch musicals. Though she can't see clearly, she imagines the elaborate musical theatre numbers.

GLADIATOR: Because the epic movie moved me at that time and does so even today. When a Roman general is betrayed and his family murdered by a corrupt prince, he comes to Rome as a gladiator to seek revenge. Russell Crowe was so captivating and convincing.
