The actor has been asked to shed 20 kilos for his role in Shootout At Wadala. In fact, John will look leaner than ever, as he is trying to match the look of real life Mumbai gangster Manya Surve's to the T. Reason why John is currently on a diet, which allows him to eat nothing but raw fish and sushi apart from lots of protein shakes, juices and soups.
John says, "Manya Surve has to look really lean in the first 20 minutes of the film, till he gets into jail and starts working out. So there is an actual physical transformation my character goes through in the film."
It took him over eight months to build his body for Force and for John who was detected with acute muscle malfunction in 2010, this would be a very rigorous process.
He agrees, "At times I feel like breaking down and crying. People always talk about losing weight but it is a very difficult process. If not supervised properly, it can go really wrong. But thankfully my trainer Vinod Channa has been religiously working with me on it."
