Karan Johar organises a trial of We Are Family for the TV fraternity, with a little help from Ekta Kapoor
Karan Johar is reaching out to the television industry with a special show of his forthcoming release We Are Family. Popular actors of the small screen will get to watch the film on August 30, four days before its theatrical release.
The film's director Siddharth Malhotra, has a telly backgroundu00a0-- his father Prem Kishen is the head honcho of Cinevistaas. Says Karan, "We Are Family is the story of a modern urban family who deals with the situation of two women living under the same roof with one man. The TV industry has always dealt with themes of family and relationships. So I thought we should have a special screening for actors who played characters that still stay with us."
Friend in need
His friend Ekta Kapoor, the television czarina, is helping him out with the invitations. "I don't know everyone in the TV industry personally. So I am taking Ekta's help to send out invitations for the trial. My mom is a huge fan of popular shows, so she's helping me out as well," he adds.
When asked if Siddharth's connection with the small screen has given the film the feel of a saas-bahu drama, KJo says, "I think it's a beautiful blend of values at Dharma, the Barjatya school of filmmaking and of course whatever he has learnt during his television days."u00a0
