Knotty truths: Marriage and Maddy

Maddy might have women falling for him left, right and centre, but he's been madly in love with only one woman for more than a decade, his wife Sarita. "Even after ten years of marriage, Sarita and I still hold each other and sleep," says Madhavan when CS asks him about keeping the spark alive in his marriage. All excited about his upcoming film on married life, Maddy gets candid about his own relationship:

WHO: R Madhavan
WHAT: Giving his take on marriage
WHERE: Andheri (West)

Marriage musts
Irrespective of whether it's love or arranged, every marriage comes with its set of challenges. Sarita and I had a love match and we are a happy couple. My parents and in-laws had arranged marriages and they are equally, or even more successful than us. Whenever there is a mutual combination of souls in a marriage it's bound to work, at least on most occasions. But when people get married for ulterior motives related to money, power or status, they're bound to suffer.u00a0

No insecurities
When Sarita and I were courting each other, I hadn't entered the film industry. Our relationship hasn't changed much since then. My wife is a secure person, and doesn't get hassled by my female fans or co-actors. She is a huge fan of Shahrukh Khan and John Abraham. So, when she met them for the first time she took their autographs and posed for pictures. And she was super thrilled when they gave her a hug. So, she knows how a fan feels when she gets a nice warm hug (smiles).

A true romantic
The idea of romance changes over the years. I am a home-bird, so I spend most of my free time with my family. Sarita is a very caring and responsible person. But when it comes to romance, I beat my wife hands down (winks). In the current scenario, I would like to jet off with Sarita to a cold place for four days. The idea would be to stay locked up for four days in a comfortable room with adequate food and a stock of DVDs. No work, phone calls or emails, just me and my wife.

Fundas for fans
I cannot advise married couples as I am still learning the ropes myself (laughs out loud). But I would say, hand over your money to your wife, as she can definitely look after it better than you. When you have an argument, don't try to prove a point just because you are the man of the house. Look at the final outcome, and you'll see that women always manage to wrestle a victory. That's all I can say (sighs).
