The first of this season's award shows last weekend was not without some celebrity showdowns

Maryam, Shakti Mohan and Mumait Khan in a spat

The glitzy entertainment awards gala that took place in the city last weekend apparently had its fair share of the ugly as well. According to our sources there was a huge spat between Maryam Zakaria, Shakti Mohan and Mumait Khan that led to some last-minute changes in the show’s schedule.

Maryam

A source says, “Maryam along with Shakti and Mumait were to perform at the event. However, at the last minute the latter two were replaced with item girls Scarlet Mellish and Claudia Ciesla.” Apparently it was because Maryam was given a central position on the stage to perform and the other two felt left out. They had an argument and the duo backed out.

Mumait

However, Mumait denies the incident and says, “I was shooting in Hyderabad. When I came to Mumbai to rehearse for the event, I had a ligament problem that aggravated. I went for the rehearsal too but I just could not dance. I informed the organisers and opted out. I don’t know why Shakti quit the show.”u00a0Another source points out, “Shakti and Mumait informed the organisers two days in advance about not doing the show. Only after that were Claudia and Scarlet approached.”

Shakti however maintains that spat or not, she remains great friends with Maryam and Mumait. “There was no argument as such. Creative differences crop up in our industry due to which our act didn’t work out. I am looking forward to performing with them sometime in the future.” The show’s organisers refused to comment on the matter.
