Shantanu and Nikhil might have faced the dreaded designer block for two years, yet their collection to be showcased today, is all about being the stylish tourist, and living life the the fullest
We have heard of a writer’s block but designer Nikhil Mehra, who makes the other half of fashion label Shantanu and Nikhil stresses that designers go through similar conditions as well.

“We faced a block for the last two years. When you face it, you still come out with collections, but the question is how good are those collections? It happens with everyone. But I’m happy that this time we are more confident with our line. Its more fresh,” reveals Nikhil.
Shantanu and Nikhil will showcase a line ,The Tourist, inspired by keen travellers who are set to discover their respective destinations.u00a0“We’ve captured the feeling of luxury travels from the brave waves of these scourers as they discover the feel-good factor from their opulent journey.
This collection is a collage of looks sported by these voyagers. They are chic, stylish and their zest for life is very well defined. They represent a new style quotient for men and women in the city and will adorn looks that are spiffy street-luxe inspired, sartorial in nature and yet classic in mood,” explains
the designer.
The colour palette that has been chosen for the collection varies from slate grey to blended navy as well as tinted-lime and faded flamingo. As far as the fabrics are concerned, cotton is predominant with Chanbray, satin, twill, Poly foma, washed and laundered linens making an appearance too. Viscose Lycra, Silk Voile with reverse-colour blocking used for rolled hem and sleeve details will also be seen.
Nikhil also mentions that their new line of men’s jacket will be something to watch out for, adding that it’s refreshing to see Indian men experimenting a little more with their style. “Men are very open to new ideas, techniques and different looks now.
Today they have an opportunity to try something different and Indian men are ready for experimentation,” informs Nikhil, further suggesting that there should be a fashion week dedicated to men and more stores exclusively for them, so that the market for menswear expands.
The wedding planners
Shantanu and Nikhil will venture into wedding planning business soon for the first time. They will style destinations weddings, which will include not just clothes but the entire event.u00a0
