The awards evening was power-packed with celebrities across Bollywood, TV, music and sports present at the event. Speaking to the media on the red carpet, Priyanka Chopra said, “We have been seeing the US version of People’s Choice Awards for many years.

And I am glad that the awards have come to India. These are for the people, by the people and about the people. It’s the people who vote, who decide who gets the awards, and who vote for the categories. So, it will be really great. It’s the first award of the season. It’s very cool. I am very excited to see who all are going to win.”

Ranbir Kapoor was also at the do and said, “This is actually the first People’s Choice Awards in India. It’s really exciting. I have actually followed this format, which happens in America and it’s a really cool format... with cool nominations. I really don’t know which category I am nominated in or I am getting an award or not.” However, the Kapoor scion was nominated at the awards for the Favorite Youth Icon category.

Bulldog Media & Entertainment has licensed the People’s Choice Awards format for India from PCA’s distribution partner Mark Burnett’s One Three Media. The companies have worked together in the past. Bulldog licensed game show ‘Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader’ from Burnett and produced an Indian version ‘Kya Aap Paanchvi Pass Se Tez Hain?’ hosted by Shah Rukh Khan. Interestingly, Burnett has also produced the US version of the show for the last 4 years. In India, Bulldog and Colors are co-producing the awards show property.

C. Scot Cru, senior VP of Intl., for One Three Media says, "What will help the People's Choice Awards stand apart from the crowd of other Indian award shows is that it is about more than just films. The format of the U.S. show brings with it TV and music categories, and in India, we've also included sports."u00a0Speaking on the show, Akash Sharma, Co-founder & MD, Bulldog, adds, “It’s been a lot of fun working on this show, we have stayed true to the US format that the fans vote for the winners through the digital platform.

The best part is that we honor fan favorites in the movies, TV, music, and sports that we all spend our time and money on, so it is very popular.u00a0It’s amazing that the people have a voice the results of which they can see on the telecast coming soon on Colors.” Also in attendance at the event were several international PCA executives including the President of the People’s Choice Awards, Mr. Fred Nelson.
