Rahul Bose has never missed the marathon. And this year too, he'll be running the Dream Run along with a few kids from his NGO, The Foundation. Rahul shares some tips to prepare for au00a0 day at the race:
>>u00a0Cut mileage to about one-third of normal during the last few days before the marathon. Keep your normal pace for the most part.
>>u00a0Give your muscles a chance to rest and skip your strength-training routine.
>>u00a0Eat a diet rich in complex carbohydrates (whole-grain breads, pasta, and cereals), and drink plenty of fluids.
>>u00a0Avoid alcoholic beverages since they have a dehydrating effect and can also interfere with your sleep.
>>u00a0Take off from work on Friday before the Sunday marathon and do a very easy 20 to 30-minute run the day before the race to work out last-minute nerves.
>>u00a0Stay relaxed and confident as the race day approaches and know that pre-race nerves are normal.
>>u00a0Try to avoid stress-inducing activities or situations.
>>u00a0Prepare your shoes, clothes and bag a day before, don't wait till the last minute.
>>u00a0Get your friends and family on board to be your race supporters.
