Rajeev Khandelwal’s long-in-the-making film Fever which has Gauahar Khan as his co-star has not been getting a distributor. The film is directed by Rajeev Jhaveri and produced by Ajay Chhibber.

A crew member says, “The makers have been working on the film for the past five years. Initially, the film was shot with Ayesha Takia as his co-star. After a stint, Gauahar was roped in. The scenes that were done with Ayesha were then reshot. Later Gauahar was busy with her reality shows, so the shoot was on hold. Finally, when she gave the dates the last schedule was completed some months ago.

The source adds, “The team has said to be meeting many distributors and none of them have given them A green signal.”

It is also said that as the shoot was delayed and portions re-shot, the budget of the film has spiralled. “It was not supposed to be an expensive film. But somehow the cost kept increasing. The last outdoor shoot in Switzerland too was costly. Now the makers have ended up spending approximately Rs 18 crore and Rajeev has also allegedly put in Rs 8 crore from his pocket. So it is said that he has been talking to distributors from his side but none of the distributors have agreed to come on board.”

While Rajeev denied the news, producer Ajay Chhibber remained unavailable for comment.
