Rajkumar Hirani hospitalised after falling off a bike in Mumbai

'pk' filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani met with a bike accident on Tuesday morning and was admitted to Lilavati Hospital in Bandra, Mumbai. He is fine and will get discharged soon, a hospital official said

Filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani was rushed to the Lilavati Hospital in Bandra, Mumbai at 3 am today, August 11, after he got injured in a bike mishap late night.


One of Hirani's employees had purchased a new Royal Enfield Bullet and asked him if he wanted to ride it. Hirani agreed, but he could not balance himself and fell, even though he was riding at a low speed.

The director of films like 'pk' and '3 Idiots' was operated upon at 8 am today as he had fractured his jaw and had a deep gash on the chin.

The doctor attending to him at Lilavati Hospital, Dr Jalil Parkar, says, "Rajkumar Hirani is now stable. He has a cut wound on the chin with dislocation of temporo-mandible JT and fracture. There is ear bleed too. There is no brain haemorrhage."

The star of his films like 'pk'and '3 Idiots', Aamir Khan visited Hirani in hospital this morning. Aamir tweeted, "For all those concerned about Raju Hirani, I have just met him in hospital. He is doing fine, and will be discharged this evening."

The director, screenwriter and film editor is best known for the movies 'Munna Bhai MBBS' (2003), 'Lage Raho Munnabhai' (2006), '3 Idiots' (2009) and 'pk' (2014).

All the films directed by Hirani went on to become huge successes at the box office.
