The Admiral of the Seven Seas, Christopher Columbus might not have discovered America as was speculated for a while, but he did leave Samant Chauhan enough inspiration to draw up a collection.
The Bihari boy who has taken up the cause of the dying Bhagalpur silks since his days at NIFT, decided to go on a nautical soujorn. Maps were transplanted on garments as prints, while nautical sintruments used as accessories too create drama for the ramp.
The collection was a compilation of everything that Samant has mastered with succesive collections u2013 a grip over tricky silk to create crisp silhouettes. A subtle Victorian undercurrent was seen with lights frills. He even sent out two models in pleated skirts. The carefully mastered collection had left us smiling, but Bollywood had to play spoil sport, with the cast of forthcoming film Acid Factory (director Sanjay Gupta, actors Aftab Shivdasani and Dino Morea) walking the ramp.
