Exactly a year ago on December 18, Sanjay Leela Bhansali's magnum opus 'Bajirao Mastani' hit theatres and despite competition from box office rival 'Dilwale' starring Shah Rukh Khan, went on to do global lifetime business of Rs 250-crore.
The historical drama, based on the love story of Maratha warrior Bajirao Peshwa I and his second wife Mastani, also earned the National Award in six categories, including Best Director.

To mark the film's first anniversary, Bhansali hosted a special dinner on the set of his current project, Padmavati. The core team of Bajirao Mastani joined in for an hour-long celebration.
Says a unit hand, "Bhansali had arranged for a Puneri Maharashtrian dinner for 250-odd unit members. The order was given to a Dadar-based catering service. At around 10pm, when the Padmavati team took a dinner break, they were delighted to see local delicacies ready to be served."
The dinner was preceded by a mandatory cake cutting session. Priyanka Chopra, who played Bajirao's first wife Kashibai in the period drama, tweeted last evening, "Thank u for making #Kashibai such a memorable. Love u, Sanjay sir."
