"I just got roped in to do a role in Anurag Kashyap's 'Bombay Velvet', a sumptuous period film, with intrigue, passion and romance," Basu told IANS and added that he enjoys being in front of the camera.
"It's good to be able to concentrate on performance with a fine director at the helm. It's a nice change from putting together all the elements that go into a show," he said.
Basu, who will also be seen in Shoojit Sircar's "Madras Cafe", coming out Aug 23, is open to doing more roles. "If time allows, and the film and filmmakers are doing the kind of cinema I like...."
In 1985, Basu became a quiz show host with "Quiz Time" on Doordarshan. He later launched his company Big Synergy that produced shows like "Kaun Banega Crorepati" and "Dus Ka Dum".
