The Royal Western India Turn Club (RWITC) hosted its first classic of the season — The Indian 1000 Guineas.

In the backdrop was the Eat India Food Festival, which had a resounding success over the weekend.

On Sunday, cine star Neil Nitin Mukesh was seen in the paddock presenting a trophy to the winner. We also spotted singer Pankaj Udhas and film director Milan Luthria.

Vivek Jain, on behalf of the RWITC, appeared to have his hands full by welcoming a host of dignatories, including the new Army Commander of Southern Command, Lt Gen Bipin Rawat, who was present with his entourage.

Leading hospitality owner, Farrokh Khambatta, led in his first winner, Joss (jointly owned by Jain). Also present for the evening were the Poonawalla brothers, Cyrus and Zavaray.

The big race of the evening was won by Myrtlewood, trained by ace trainer Pesi Shroff in brilliant style.
