The Babbars are ecstatic and have planned endless rounds of merry-making to celebrate their electoral victory.
Yesterday, Raj Babbar emerged triumphant in the Firozabad parliamentary seat. The Congress candidate trounced Dimple Yadav, daughter-in-law of the Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav in the by-election. This is a big win for Babbar and the Congress in Uttar Pradesh.

Leading the way
Raj's wife Nadira, son Arya and daughter Juhi had been stationed in the constituency. Prateik, Raj's son with the late actress Smita Patil was also in Firozabad garnering support for his father.

Says Juhi, "Celebrations are on and we have also planned big events in New Delhi and Mumbai. Dad was leading from the beginning of the counting. There were thousands of people outside the counting centre. In fact, mom and I were just two kilometres away, but it took us a good two hours to reach due to the milling crowds."

Prateik missed it
While Juhi and Nadira were in Firozabad throughout, Arya arrived yesterday morning as he was shooting. As Prateik is busy attending workshops for his film with Sanjay Leela Bhansali, he could not be with his family on his dad's big day.

Says Prateik, "As I had my commitments, I had to be in Mumbai. I am planning to go to Firozabad soon. If I can't make it, I will have to wait for all of them to arrive in Mumbai for the celebrations." About the canvassing he says, "It was real hard work."

Juhi further adds, "Sharing our joy are Salmanbhai and Govindaji."

Sallu's support
As reported, Salman had specially arrived in Firozabad to campaign for Babbar ('Khan-abadosh'; HiTLIST, November 4). The actor participated in road shows and also addressed rallies. Juhi Babbar is friendly with Salman's sister Alvira and it was at her request that Sallu had agreed to campaign.
