Look where Shama Sikander's spontaneous decision for a break took her ufffd Japan. Shama and her friends took off on a 10-day trip to the Japanese cities of Tokyo, Kyoto and Kobe. "I made the trip in the first week of April. Japan was an ideal holiday destination for me ufffd peaceful and serene. And being the spring season, trees were blooming all around. It was breathtakingly beautiful; as if the entire country had come alive in a myriad of colours!" gushes Shama.u00a0 
A thing of beauty...
There was so much to see that we didn't know where to start. Some of the places we visited included Tokyo city - Disney land is a major attraction there; Osaka - some of the landmarks being Universal Studios, Osaka Castle and its picturesque lakes and gardens.
The gardens were resplendent with pink and white flowers. It was so calm and serene to walk in such beautiful surroundings. Next on our agenda was Kyoto, which has some of the most amazing temples located on the hills. These temples were full of people; I never knew that theu00a0 Japanese were so religious!
We, the people
I found the Japanese to be humble and helpful people. If you stopped to ask for directions, they go out of their way to help you. One man even walked us down to a taxi stand, which was almost half-an-hour away! Also, we couldn't help but marvel at the efficiency with which the country functions. Everything is so well planned. The Japanese are such sticklers for punctuality: 7.03 trains are there on 7.03 dot. We came back impressed!
Fantastic food
Being a foodie, I gorged on some awesome Japanese and Chinese Oriental cuisine. The fish was simply delectable, especially salmon; it just melted in your mouth.
Train of thought
Sitting on the bullet train was the most memorable experience - zooming from one city to the other in three hours flat. Passing through the countryside was a marvel; it felt like these places were painted by nature in the most spectacular fashion.
