A still from All That Breathes

Shaunak Sen’s All That Breathes has been making waves in the international circuit, having won the Grand Jury Prize in the World Cinema Documentary Competition at Sundance Film Festival 2022, and the Golden Eye for the best documentary at Cannes Film Festival 2022. Now, the documentary, which focuses on Delhi’s air pollution, has been chosen for screening at the All Living Things Environmental Film Festival. Set to take place between November 17 and 27, the film gala attempts to spread awareness about environmental issues through cinema.

Sen’s offering then is the perfect choice for the endeavour. Told from the viewpoint of two brothers Nadeem and Saud who aid injured black kites that are becoming increasingly vulnerable to the intense air pollution, the film is an eye-opener on the problem plaguing the country’s capital. “Cinema is such a powerful medium, and the idea of creating awareness about the environmental issue through it is incredible. My movie is based on ecological change, and I can’t wait for people in India to experience it,” says the elated director. The upcoming edition will have filmmakers Kiran Rao and Amit Masurkar on the jury panel.
