The director and co-stars of Dev Patel's upcoming film The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel are all praises for the young actor, who shot to fame with Danny Boyle's Slumdog Millionaire.
Director John Madden is so in awe of Dev that he is ready to call him the engine of their upcoming film that also stars Maggie Smith, Tom Wilkinson, Bill Nighy and Judi Dench."
Oh, gosh, what a divine young man," Dench raves. "He is a dynamo, too, very funny.'' Director Madden says, "This movie reveals a side of him not seen before.
He is a gifted comic actor and a physical clown. The ladies were in awe of what he could do. He is the engine of the film.''

As described by Madden, Dev's character in the film is of a hapless young man who believes he can make a success out of a crumbling hotel by, as he calls it, outsourcing old age.

Madden required an Indian-English accent to play Sonny Kapoor in the film and the London-raised Patel was perfect for it.
The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel is the story of seven British retirees who seek a reasonably priced paradise in which to live out their golden years.
