Hilary Duff is set to fill screen legend Faye Dunaway's shoes.

She will be playing one part of the infamous 1930s bank-robbing duo Bonnie and Clyde. this will be in the indie drama, The Story of Bonnie and Clyde.

Last week, when the news first came out, the stalwart Faye supposedly zinged, "Couldn't they at least cast a real actress?"

Not one to back down from a fight, the pop princess Hilary has now retaliated, telling E!, "I think that my fans that are going to go see the movie don't even know who she is, so you know... I think it was a little unnecessary.

But I might be mad if I looked like that now too."
