He may be giving Priyanka Chopra a tough time as her boss in Quantico season 2, but off-camera, he is a fan of the actress. Blair Underwood, who plays Owen Hall in the Star World thriller series, couldn’t stop gushing about PeeCee when hitlist spoke to him over phone.
After all these months of working together, all that Underwood has managed to learn from his co-star is ‘namaste’. “I haven’t learnt much. I started with namaste and now, I know about Diwali,” he says, referring to the Diwali bash that Priyanka hosted for her Quantico co-stars recently.
“I grew up in a lot of different places and have great interest in cultures from around the world. Everyday I go to work, I learn more about India through Priyanka. She always talks about how stuff works there,” Underwood says, adding that he “loves” to watch her act.
“I think the best thing about acting is when you communicate through your eyes. And she has very expressive eyes. I told her the other day that she is so good with emotional scenes. She does it effortlessly and the audience actually feels it,” he adds.
Underwood reveals that he harbours dreams to act in Hindi movies. “I told her I want to do a Bollywood film, and she said I have to learn Hindi first. So, I am learning that bit by bit. You think I am joking, but I want to do a Bollywood film. Maybe, I can be the guy who talks in English. I’d love to do that.”
Is there something that he, maybe, doesn’t like about Priyanka? “Well, the fact that she is a better dancer than me,” he says with a laugh, and adds, “She is a workaholic and all about doing good work. She’s always at the top of her game.”
