Onir, director of offbeat movies like My Brother Nikhil and Bas Ek Pal, invites Bangaloreans to invest in his new venture, a "collective" film called I AM

Want to produce films? Then make sure you are a part of I AM, a one-of-its-kind film that will be launched in a few weeks from now.

Onir, who directed My Brother Nikhil and Bas Ek Pal, is all set to direct the "collective" film, which is a combination of five short films, to be shot in five different cities. The five films, lasting 20 minutes each, will have different themes, but the search for identity remains the common thread that unifies the stories.u00a0

The short films are titled Abhimanyu, Omar, Afia, Megha and Rudra, and will deal with child trafficking, the Maoist struggle, and homosexuality among other issues.

Onir and his team, who were in Bangalore last week, will begin shooting the short films from July 20. "Any Bangalorean can be a producer by investing in the experimental movie that has five music directors and several Bollywood stars including Juhi Chawla, Sanjay Suri, Purab Kohli and Abhimanyu Singh in lead roles," said Onir.

"The movie is experimental with a strong message. It is related to every man's life."

"We are finalising the shooting venues for Abhimanyu, the short film on child trafficking, in Bangalore," said Sandeep Malani, associate director, I AM. "The film will be shot on Brigade road and MG Road, and in Hebbal."
