An insider says, "Kapil suffered a slip disc while working out in the gym for Abbas Mustan's film. He has gone to Van Couver for his treatment and will rest for almost a month after returning to Mumbai. The channel was contemplating if the other characters on Comedy Nights should also be given a break while they work out a fresh concept for the show. However, they eventually decided to run it with the current characters and rope in four big names as hosts."
It is believed that the channel officials are still figuring out ways to help the audience connect with the show in Kapil's absence. The last episode that he shot before leaving for his treatment will be aired this week. "The channel has decided to let each celebrity host one episode each. So far, only Karan has been finalised," the source adds.
The channel spokesperson and Karan remained unavailable for comment.
