A reel fire ended in real disaster on the sets of Mahesh Bhatt's television show, 'Naamkarann', as Reema Lagoo sustained burn injuries on her hands. The veteran actress, who plays Dayavanti in the show, was shooting for an immolation scene on Sunday when the fire got out of hand.
Says a unit hand, "It was an intense scene involving Reemaji and Viraf Patel [male lead]. In that, she threatens to set herself on fire if he gets married to Barkha Bisht [Viraf's love interest in the show]. She then pours kerosene all over herself and lights a match-stick. We had taken enough precautions and were prepared to handle the fire, but it spread rapidly, thanks to Reemaji's cotton saree."

As the blaze spread through her saree, the actress tried extinguishing the fire with her bare hands and ended up with burns. "We requested her to go back to her vanity van and get the wound dressed, but she insisted on completing her shot first," adds the insider.
Recalling the incident, Reema says, "I am fine now and back to work. The saree caught fire because it was of cotton material. The way it spread was really scary, so I tried dousing it with my hands without thinking [of the consequence]. But, thank god, the wound is not that deep; it should heal in the next four to five days."
