TV channel sets a deadline for Karan Johar

His commitments as a filmmaker and now also as an actor (in Anurag Kashyap’s upcoming film) along with his presence as a judge in a dance reality show, has put Karan Johar’s chat show on the backburner. However the channel, who has been waiting for yet another season of the show for long, is now keen that the celebrity host keep his word before the year-end.

Says a source close to the channel, “Karan is committed to another season which has to go on air this year. The channel is looking at December or early January depending upon the number of episodes he can bank if he starts shooting by November.”

Adds the source, “He was to return with a new season long back. Last year, he was tied up with Student Of The Year and kept pushing back his chat show but judged reality shows for other channels.” KJo’s show first aired in 2004 and had a second season in 2007. It returned for a third outing in November 2010 which ended in April 2011.

The source continues. “It has been over two years that the channel is waiting for his next season. Karan wants everything his way and accordingly the planning is going on quietly. Karan has been multi-tasking of late and is not getting enough time of late.” Apparently as his show has been kept on hold, it is also affecting their programming lineup for other shows. KJo remained unavailable for comment.
