'Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah' (TMKOC) in its ongoing story has highlighted the role of journalists and journalism for a vigilant society. Journalist or Patrakar Popatlal as he is referred to in the show is a man of high integrity and with a strongly rooted belief in his profession. So when the news of rampant hoarding, black marketing and adulteration of critical life-saving medicines starts making the rounds, he decides to investigate the matter.


Despite knowing that people involved in such criminal acts are dangerous, he decides to conduct a sting operation to identify the perpetrators and bring them to justice. The show, while maintaining its comedy quotient demonstrates how an honest, upright journalist is even willing to risk their lives for the sake of finding the truth. The show salutes journalists who exhibit such courage and dedicate their lives working in the interest of citizens and the nation.


'Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah' is billed as the world’s longest-running daily comedy show and most of its characters are household names in India and many other countries. First aired in 2008, the show is running in its 13th year with upwards of 3100 episodes. It is the only Indian show that concurrently runs the show in live-action, animation, and two different regional languages including Telugu and Marathi.
