How do you know you have fully appreciated an artist's work? The intricate strokes and colours seem to create a vibrant frenzy, yet they may look daunting to the viewer.

"At Art Walks Mumbai, we hope to encourage participants to engage with what's in front of them, based on the simple act of looking closely, discovering and discussing what they see", says Alisha Sadikot, who will be conducting a walk this weekend with Nishita Zachariah. The duo has worked together creating and leading the learning outreach programmes at Dr Bhau Daji Lad Mumbai City Museum.

"Many people are intimidated by a gallery and feel ill-equipped to examine the works on view," says Sadikot, explaining the purpose behind their initiative.

Sadikot and Zachariah hope to foster dialogue around the art on display by providing the necessary context and clues to deciphering the pieces. After the gallery stopovers, the group will head to Marina Upper Deck to unwind.

Here's what to expect at the walk:

STOP 1: Chemould Prescott Road is showing Access Time, a project that looks at how archives are accessed.

STOP 2: Akara Art is diplaying Rohit Chawla's photo exhibition, The Inspired Frame, which is being held in collaboration with Tasveer.

STOP 3: Sakshi Gallery is exhibiting Here Be Dragons and Other Coded Landscapes by Meera Menezes.

STOP 4: Chatterjee and Lal houses the exhibits of Lila – Play in Indian Visual Culture, which are drawn from over 2,000 years of material culture.
