2017 marks the 70th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between India and Russia, and as part of the celebrations, the Russian Centre for Science and Culture in Mumbai has an array of cultural events lined up for the year. February begins on a musical note, where the Consulate General of Russian Federation in Mumbai and the centre have invited two well-known artistes from Moscow for a concert.

Vladimir Gerts, a soloist with the Bolshoi Theatre and Moscow State Philharmonic, and known for his rich baritone. He will be accompanied by Russian pianist Ksenia Bavykina, who has performed at iconic venues in the country and abroad.

"The repertoire for the evening includes Russian Romances. They are soulful, lyrical songs that go beyond love," says Vladimir V Dementiev, director of the centre, which has dedicated the concert to Alexander Kadakin. The Russian ambassador to India passed away recently.
The auditorium will also resound with popular Russian folk songs, and works of Schubert and Rachmaninoff. "The concert is a bouquet of the most favourite songs of Russians," Dementiev shares.
