To help you bring your most glamorous self to weddings, we asked an expert to share make-up hacks which are easy and effective. St. Stephen’s month-long Festival at the Steps makes a comeback after nearly two years. A return to physical gatherings has brought joy to the community.  For our story on International Migrants Day, we spoke to city-based award-winning sculptor Rohan Pawar whose new exhibition at Worli’s Art & Soul, showcases works depicting memories of migration during the March 2020 lockdown caused by Covid-19. This week, layoffs were in the news after Better.com CEO fired over 900 employees on a Zoom video call. Two mental health experts share insights to people cope with layoffs. Our coverage also brings forth three city-based female entrepreneurs who followed their passion during the pandemic and set up their eclectic businesses.

Bandra’s St Stephen’s gears up for Festival at the Steps’21

Ever since they were renovated three years ago, the zig-zagging St Stephen’s Steps at Bandra’s Mount Mary road have emerged as a prominent public space which frequently comes alive with community gatherings and fun-filled activities. Built on a once-neglected and poorly-maintained slope, the steps were envisioned by Bombay Greenway, a not-for-profit urban design and research platform by Abraham John Architects. Soon enough in 2019, the project that set out to create a safe and accessible urban space inspired a 'Festival at the Steps', where art, craft, music and other activities took place over five weekends on the stairway. After a long pause caused by the Covid-19 outbreak, the festival is making a comeback to help locals recover from the pandemic blues and heal together as a community. Photo credit/Tina Nandi

Mumbai sculptor’s new works reflect on scenes of migration in the pandemic

Tiny human figures with overflowing luggage, children following their parents, three men on a railway track, a lock and key, an airplane and migratory birds escaping the events on land – these are just a few of the images carved on Rohan Pawar’s recent sculptures. They immediately evoke scenes of the March 2020 lockdown that had triggered the largest human migration in Indian history after the 1947 partition. In a new exhibition at Worli’s Art & Soul, city-based award-winning sculptor Rohan Pawar showcases works depicting memories of migration during the March 2020 lockdown caused by Covid-19. On International Migrants Day, Pawar talks about the urgent need for artists to engage with the social and political issues of their time. Photo credit/Sarasvati T
