'I keep staring at my neighbour...'

Dear Diana

Dear Diana,
A month ago, a newly married couple moved into the house adjacent to where I live. Ever since, I have been ogling the woman. Since she is alone at home, she spends a lot of time on the balcony which is across ours. Sometimes, she looks at me and smiles. How do I befriend her and get to know her? I stay with my parents and a younger sister. I am busy preparing for my class 12 board exams and study mostly in the balcony since my mom and sister watch TV all the time. I want to be her good, helpful neighbour, but I do not know how to approach her. She appears to be around 25, but could be younger. I find her extremely attractive and keep dreaming about her. I am left tongue tied in front of this woman, especially when she is in the balcony drying her wet hair.

Dear Sunny,
You may be besotted with her, but you have exams coming up. You must concentrate on your studies instead of her. She seems to be a source of distraction for you. If you feel getting to know her will help you calm down, the next time she looks at you, say a hello and let the conversation flow. At the same time, be cautious and don't make it appear that you are desperate to know her. Also, you are in class 12, so you must be about 18 years old. It is a case of infatuation which is common for boys your age. You will outgrow it as soon as your exams are over as you stop parking yourself in the balcony and hang out with friends. Further,
you say you want to be the good neighbour, so stop ogling at her first; it could spell trouble for you if she complains to someone in the neighbourhood. You and your family may have to pack your bags and say goodbye to the house you live in.
