Dear Diana,
Dear Diana,
I met this girl at my cousin’s wedding ceremony recently. All the youngsters were hanging out together and she was part of the group. She is related to my cousin’s hubby. We had great fun during the sangeet ceremony. I find her to be a nice, pretty girl and have developed a crush on. While a part of me would like to ask her out so that I might be able to get to know her better, another part of me is reluctant to do so. As my cousin is newly married, I don’t want it to get uncomfortable for her. The girl is from her in-laws side, so I really do not know how they will react. How do I get to know her? Are my misgivings justified? I wish I had asked her for her mobile number. When she was around, I would get so tongue-tied. I really think she is the girl for me.

Dear Ranesh,
As she is related to your cousin’s in-laws, I can understand your apprehensions of going slow. You don’t want them to think that you are like this desperate guy and after her. You had a golden opportunity to get to know her during the wedding festivities. At that time everyone was in a celebration mood, it could have been easier to ask her out or get her mobile number. As you were hanging out together, you could have even dropped a hint. But now the only way to get to know her is through your cousin. It will be easier for your cousin to know if she is single or has someone on the scene. If she is single, your cousin can plan an outing or invite her over for a meal. You can then get a chance to meet her again and then take it forward from there.
