I am 27 and single. My dentist recently told me that he's in love with me. I think he's a thorough gentleman and that's also the reason why it came as a rude shock. We've known each for several years now as I had to undergo several dental procedures including root canals. I don't know what to do. He's married, but unhappy with his wife.

Looks like the dentist's drill went straight into your heart. You mistook his friendly demeanor for being the good dentist, but there was more on his mind. He may have confessed his feelings for you, but are you sure? Remember he is married and claims that he is caught in an unhappy marriage. He took you unawares by professing his love. You need to tread with caution and first decide whether you like him for what he is — or because he is an able dentist. Also, he will have to divorce his wife and you will be blamed for the marriage breaking up. So think twice before taking the plunge.
