National Film Archive of India has organised a seven-day course in film appreciation for children from 13 to 18 yrs

If you child loves watching films and you think he would like to explore the world of films in greater depth, enroll him into this seven-day workshop. The National Film Archive of India is organising an introductory course in film appreciation, which will be held from May 6 to 12.

The course, which has been designed for children between the age group of 13 to 18 years, will be conducted by officials from NFAI, faculties from Film and Television Institute of India and other experts.

Prashant Pathrabe, director, NFAI says, "The idea behind the course is to help children appreciate films. Kids do not know the medium through which films are made, the finer elements, cinematic language or the story. hildren are a lot into television today, this course will help them break the mode and understand cinematography better."

Pathrabe feels that though such a course may got give kids an in-depth understanding of films, it will help those who would like to get into film-making at a later stage in life. "It will also keep them occupied during the summer vacations," he adds.

The curriculum of the course includes basics of theoretical and practical study of the history and the development of cinema as a medium of art and communication. Film classics (Indian and international) will be used for critical analysis and study.
