Shubha Mudgal, Aneesh Pradhan and other musicians will be performing poetry by poets such as Gulzar and Faiz

Celebrate One Pune One Music this Sunday, with a musical soiree titled Lyrics and Melody featuring noted singer Shubha Mudgal and lyricist Prasoon Joshi. A confluence of poetry and music, the event is a Radio One 94.3 FM initiative.

The event will see Mudgal perform poetry written by renowned poets such as Gulzar, Alok Srivastava, and Faiz Ahmed Faiz to name a few. And accompanying Mudgal will be Aneesh Pradhan on tabla, Sudhir Nayak on harmonium, Tony Dias on keyboards, Benoni Soans on drums, Pratap Rath on percussion and audio engineer Tanay Gajar.

"Aneesh and I have always performed a lot of poetry. And we have composed a lot from what we have read. For this particular performance, I have picked up recent works by the poets, instead of the older ones. The idea is to perform a selection of verses written by different poets. For example, Alok Srivastava is a young and very talented poet whose poem we will be performing," said Mudgal.

The one hour fifteen minute set, will have Mudgal and her musicians take Pune's music lovers into a repertoire of beautiful poems. "We make music, and we have always got a kind and generous response from different kinds of music enthusiasts. It's great to know that different kinds of music are welcomed with open arms here," concludes Mudgal.
