Change, the biggest truth

Surabhi Jain discovers that change is what life is all about

I'm sick of fighting so hard and long. It's all a blur now, the right and wrong.

My soul fails and I've lost already. Even though I march on quick and steady.

Sometimes, life takes such a sudden turn and everything around you changes. This happened to me in first year of college. I walked inside, lost and disoriented. Everything became one constant buzz and I felt dazed.

I dreamt all day about beautiful things and morning sunshine, but the darkness was overpowering. It grew heavier with each passing second as fear and desperation threatened to overwhelm me. The fear of facing change. The fear of losing a dear friend. The fear of being replaced. The fear of losing just about something.

I stumbled across familiar paths remembering old times and my head started pounding, trying to get out of the chaotic darkness. I remembered my childhood days, regretting I don't have them anymore. I remembered my school and my school life, where I was a star and today I may not be one. I remembered my friend's and felt sad that none of us are in touch. Remembered about my first ever crush, which I could never have. I really wanted to sleep and dream well, so I could wake up the next morning with my life intact, with everything as perfect as it always was. That was all that I needed.

Then it struck me that change is not merely necessary to life it is life itself. If we fall and never try to get up, we would never learn and never experience that wonderful feeling of change.

I saw hope and light returning to me. It amazed me how little things and thoughts make such a big difference in our life and bring about big changes.

Suddenly, I saw myself laughing; I was alive. I remembered the cherished little details of everyday life, which I had been persistently ignoring during the darkness.

Today, this feeling reminds me that life is one big test and that we should not get too comfortable, because there is always room for change and growth.

Whatever it is, I am praying for the faith to endure and learn the lessons I am supposed to from everything that comes my way.

So today I confidently say;
Those rays lit a fire in me, to fight and fight till I win.
I smile as I look up at the sun; I used to march, now I run!
