The mere thought of looking deep into an unknown person’s eyes is intimidating to begin with, but those who’ve done it will vouch for its positive effects. It allows participants to become expressive about who they are, allowing for authentic streams of communication with whom they interact with.
Hosted by the Human Connection Movement, an organisation that holds Eye Gazing events across the world, this open eye meditation is believed to dissolves barriers between people. The event will be held at Andheri next Sunday. “At the location, one is expected to find a partner and settles down to look into their eyes without talking. Once completed, they talk about the experience briefly and move onto the next person. The idea is to find an eye that they can connect to the most. In the exercise, it is important to let go of any expectations, be present and allow whatever comes up to move from through them, unconditionally,” says Igor Kreyman, the founder of the movement.
There are no age-range specifications. “One of the benefits of eye gazing is that it helps people deal with social anxiety in a safe environment,” adds Kreyman.
“Mumbai is known for its high spirits and I could see it through the last eye gazing event. It was such an incredible experience — people were excited and enthusiastic to know what’s behind those stranger eyes, eager to connect deeply, curious to know what's next,” says Khushi Rit, who is coordinating the event for Mumbai.
