If you've always wanted to take photographs of graceful dancers in action, here's your chance. Freezing Mudra at the National Centre foru00a0 the Performing Arts (NCPA) is allowing photography enthusiasts to shoot Indian Classical, as well as contemporary dancers against natural outdoor lighting.

Mukesh Parpiani, curator of Piramal Gallery at the NCPA, decided to host the workshop when he noticedu00a0 an increase in the demand from photographers for permission to shoot dancers in motion. "In case of musicians, photographers don't require too many takes as it's about capturing their emotions while they sing.

With dancers, however there are several elements that lend themselves to photography - be it capturing their costumes or framing their facial expressions and body language while in motion," he explains.

Classical and Contemporary dancers will perform for photographers over two Sundays. "Only one condition exists - the images that are clicked cannot be used for commercial purposes," he says adding, "In the second half of April, the images will be compiled in a CD.

An exhibition of the images will also be held." He explains that such initiatives will help lesser-known photographers, who are unable to bear the cost of showcasing their work in a gallery.

Parpiani points out that the cost of the session is minimal to cover the travel and make-up expenses of the dancers. Only 35 seats are available, but he promises to make space for enthusiasts even if the number of seats gets filled.
