Recalling how Swastika emerged, Singh shares, “The union goes back to our time in college, when music was just a hobby for us. Steadily, we began playing at college fests and clubs, and developed this hobby into a more consistent effort. Soon, we began composing songs and Swastika was born.”
Nair pitches in, “We wanted to have an Indian identity, like many Indian bands do. Swastika depicts our culture and it also means lucky charm! So, this name just clicked for us.”u00a0Known especially for their Alternative and Experimental sound, the band will release a studio album later this year, Singh elaborates, “The idea behind this album is to share our originals on a social platform. It’s in the recording stage and we will release it in few months. The songs are written by Uday and Chinmay.”
Being an independent band, Singh believes that the current time is very good for hard working independent artistes. “Nobody buys music albums anymore. Publishing your songs online is the easiest option for artistes as it has a wider audience and possibly, a wider reach,” asserts Singh.
