The Pathfinder dance group from Pune has been selected to perform in the World Music and Dance festival to be held in Japan
The Pathfinder Group, a Pune-based dance group has been selected to perform at the World Music and Dance Festival, which has been organised in Japan by the local Japanese community and is on till August 11.

There will be workshops in the morning and concerts in the evening at different venues in Hakodate, Hokkaido, Japan. The Pathfinder Group comprises six artists. The group was selected as one of the top ten groups out of thousands of groups across the world. The other nine teams are from China, USA, Alaska, UK, Indonesia, Ecuador, France, Poland and Mali. Last year 30,000 Japanese people had attended the concerts and this year the expectation is even more.
The group will include a sitar performance by Sameep Kulkarni and Bharatnatyam by Madhura Khire, Gauri Kashelikar, Neha Athalye, Snehal Parsekar, Tabla by Aditya Athalye. The concert will feature the Jugalbandi of Sitar and Bharatnatyam.
Sameep Kulkarni, one of the participants said, “It is a great honour to perform in Japan with a global bevy of musicians. We will be showcasing Indian traditional music as well as dances here. We are very excited and happy about it and are sure this will help us in future career too.” u00a0
