There's nothing that Tamil superstar Rajni 'kan't' do. And the same holds true for people who believe in last-minute preparations for everything, from exams to weddings, and even an international event like the Commonwealth Games.
In India, all's well that ends well, even if it has had a miserable start. It's this indigenous philosophy that inspired young Delhi designer Manish Tripathi to come up with a line of satirical caricatures based on the CWG drama. His works, on display at his Hauz Khas Village studio, and on Facebook, are a must-see for anyone who hasn't giggled in a while.

"'Ho jaayega' keeps us going. Agar aap apni beti ki shaadi mein generator hire karna bhool jaate hain, toh end mein koi na koi padosi aapko apna generator de hi dega.
You don't need to feel helpless, because in our country, jugaad (gamble) pays off. So what if it's the Commonwealth Games? We can host several such events with ease," scoffs the young designer-cum-caricature artist.
The exhibition, which will see a grand edition in the first week of September, is a silent protest against the mess created by those who brought the games to the country, only to turn it into a 'joke'. "As a common man, I'm hurt because CWG could have been a matter of pride. It's now just an embarrassment."
"When Lord Ram couldn't cross the sea, his vaanar sena (monkey brigade) created a bridge. Miracles do happen, and Kalmadi saheb (Suresh Kalmadi) needs to be patient. CWG bhi ho jaayega," he says with a smile.
The exhibition will sport 70 black and white caricatures on the theme. The artist, who has a full-time job designing apparel, has used gateway and bond sheet as the base, and rotring (a fine nibbed pen) and photography software Adobe Photoshop to create his collection.
"I like using sarcasm with wit. My work is not pessimistic or demeaning. But yes, as a free man, I am expressing my opinion. Kuch log bol ke react karte hain, main paint karta hoon," he says.
All works will be up for sale, although he's yet to zero in their price tags, says the National Institute of Fashion Technology graduate.
