Lobbing with the lobster

Is what we did at Sevilla at the Claridges. We suggest you too check out this promotion

There are times when the beauty of a place is the first thing that strikes you. Everything else becomes inconsequential. That is what happened to us when we visited The Claridges' Mediterranean restaurant Sevilla recently.

With canopied seating and huts, Sevilla is perfect for a romantic dinner

Sevilla is a beautifully designed restaurant. The property is made up of small huts and canopied seating areas, which makes it just the perfect place to visit along with your sweetheart. The huts have four and six seater tables, complete with fireplaces (for winters) and wooden flooring -- just the location for some cosy coochie-cooing.

Time to get cracking
We, however, decided to concentrate on the food. There was a lobster promotion on, and looking at the menu, we thought it was high time we got down to business. The olives were there already at the table, along with some nice bread and crackers. What we liked was that the chef not only knows the food that he has made, but its history too.

We opted for some Langoustine Medallions where he cooked the fish in the shape of a medallion and served it with essence of tomato and bottarga which is dried, pressed egg of grey mullet (tastes somewhat like pickles) and followed it up with some very sweet (and fruity) Lobster salad Catalan style. The chef tells us that this is very easy to make and anyone can try it at home.

Just take lettuce (iceberg, rocket, anything you can get at the local supermarket), add berries of your choice. Take 100ml orange juice, the juice of a lemon and 75ml extra virgin olive oil. Whip it like you would make vinaigrette. Add this dressing to your fruits and chunks of lobster. This salad is best paired with crisp, dry white wine so we ordered a Torres.

Getting fishy
It was time to order the soup --Lobster Bisque flavoured with cognac which actually increased our appetites manifold. So we were perfectly ready when a giant lobster (the size of a huge dosa) arrived at our table. It was a Lobster from Scotland, char-grilled with Bordigera sauce (a mouth-watering mix of olives, capers, black truffles and tomatoes). The lobster was meaty enough to fill our tummies. But not enough to miss the dessert -- Citrus Creme Brulee with lobster essence and vodka jelly. Yummy!
