Japanese automaker Suzuki has announced the prices of its latest mini crossover – the Ignis – which will go on sale in the UK in January 2017. The UK prices start from £9,999 (nearly Rs 8.65 lakh) and go all the way up to £13,999 (nearly Rs 12.11 lakh) for the range-topping model equipped with Suzuki's AllGrip (all-wheel-drive). Speaking of India, it is likely to be launched in a similar time period and we expect Maruti to price it in the vicinity of Rs 5 lakh (will be retailed from Nexa dealerships)
The Ignis shares its platform with the highly popular Baleno and will have a relatively lower kerb like the latter. It will have the Mahindra KUV100 as its primary competitor, but it is a larger offering and is likely to be spacious than the Mahindra. Recently, the Ignis was crash tested by Euro NCAP and scored three stars for the standard trims and five stars for the top-spec models. It will come with six airbags as standard across its variant lineup in the UK, while Indian version is likely to be equipped with dual front airbags as standard (similar to the other cars retailed from Nexa).
