Men and monsoon

Monsoons may not be a much-awaited season in Mumbai, but it doesn't necessarily have to dampen the sartorial spirit. Here's the checklist that'll help all you style-conscious men out there get a new wardrobe for your office:

Monsoon mania: Monsoon doesn't mean that you compromise on your
style quotient. There are a lot of options available to spruce you up

Colour craze
Colour-wise, muted shades of grey and black, as well as earthy tones like beige, brown and khaki spell style. A mix of cotton and polyester material is comfortable to wear in monsoon. This dries up faster and the shirt may not lose its crease after it gets dry. The cotton shirt once wet, needs to be ironed otherwise it looks lousy.u00a0

Cool and casual

A pastel shirt with prints or plaids goes best with simple jeans. If things can afford to be a little casual at work, chinos in linen and cargos in cotton look best with military inspired tees to complete that trendy safari look. Boots or covered sandals will go with this one. Three fourth cargos and a sporty vest with a slingy pouch is also a trendy pick. But we suggest you wear it only if you have an informal office environment.
For a more formal look, lean fitted trousers should be worn with a trendy shirt with oversized pockets and tennis shoes to complete the look.

Functionally formal
Though rare, you may just have to attend a couple of formal functions during the season. Instead of wearing a pinstripe suit, you could opt for a light cotton/khaki jacket with denims/formal pants with a nice T-shirt underneath. Such clothes dry up easily keeping you comfortable.u00a0 A waistcoat over a formal shirt also looks trendy for an semi-formal evening.u00a0

Staying dry
When it comes to windcheaters, there are quite a few options. You can wear a jacket style one that's perfect for most people. Instead of ugly long raincoats, opt for a jacket-trouser rain gear set that offers 100 per cent protection from the rains.

Denim deal
If you are adamant about wearing jeans, then you may need to buy an extra pair as they take a lot of time to dry after it is wet or washed. If you must wear trousers, go for corduroys instead which is bit lighter than jeans. For exclusive formal trousers again use a mix of cotton and polyester. Take extra care for leather articles. Once wet, clean the leather belt or shoes with dry cloth and give it some sunlight or keep under a fan till it is fully dried.
